Dr. Christoph Wiest
Christoph graduated from medical school at the University of Heidelberg in 2018 and completed a Doctor in Medicine, where he studied acute stress in zebrafish using behavioural tests and two-photon imaging. Throughout medical school, he completed clinical electives and research visits in nine different countries. After some time as a surgical resident, Christoph joined the MRC BNDU in 2019 for his DPhil in Clinical Neurosciences, where he studied electrophysiological feedback markers for adaptive deep brain stimulation in Parkinson’s disease and cervical dystonia.
Following completion of his DPhil in 2023 and a quick stint in management consulting, he returned to Prof. Huiling Tan’s lab a postdoc studying how stimulation-evoked responses can be used to accelerate and fine-tune programming of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of movement disorders.
